Nerdologues Podcasts

The Nerdologues started podcasting with Your Stories back in 2011. We loved sharing our night of nerding out across the world. Since then, we've started a bit of a podcast family, including long-running shows like the Nerdologues' own Mary Beth Smith's MBSing, a biweekly sports show called Sports Retorts, a show about mixtapes called Blank Cassette, and more!

For over five years The Nerdologues Presents: Your Stories has combined comedy, rock and roll, and disastrous earnestness into a weekly podcast where cool cats like you share their tales in front of a live audience and we find out a little something about why we're all nerds.

A rewatch podcast with a sociopolitical twist. Each week, hosts Lauren Faits and Eric Garneau discuss episodes and issues from the surprisingly progressive 1985 cartoon She-Ra: Princess of Power -- and get ready for its forthcoming Netflix reboot!

A comedic post-apocalyptic tale, this podcast follows former radio host Jo Prendergast at the explosive end of the world. Keep up with Jo’s ham radio transmissions as she uses humor and luck to survive:

-the effects of a supervolcano eruption
-other survivors who could murder her or help her or both
-existential dread
-death
-no longer having running water
-MREs and more

This podcast is episodic so start with episode 1- T.E.O.T.W.A.W.K.I.

Improv comedy is simultaneously the best and worst art form that exists. Sometimes, it’s pure magic. Other times, it really really sucks. But why? Every Monday, we host a workshop and jam called the Mixer in Chicago. We invite some of our favorite folks to teach for a half hour, then the improvise with the attendees. After that wraps, hosts Kevin and Morgan sit down with them to learn about their journey, why Chicago, what they love about improv, but we always ask the question, “why do you think Improv Sux?”

Join Los Angeles-based married couple Mary Beth (a cannabis chemist) and Eric (a guy who works from home) on a weed-infused romp through the seemingly endless baseball season. Will Mary Beth’s love and enthusiasm for all things baseball wear off on Eric and inspire him to dive back into a sport he hasn’t followed in nearly two decades? Will they eat too many snacks on mic? Will they remember what they were talking about a minute ago? Everyone from devoted MLB fans to the baseball apathetic can enjoy the dissection of fandom, silly segments, and marital bliss.

Former supervillain Dr. Hornet has given up his life of crime to pursue his real passion: becoming a DJ on his own classic rock radio show! On the Hornet’s Nest, you’ll hear the self-proclaimed “Doctor of Rock” play his favorite deep cut tracks, get into heated arguments with callers, and try (unsuccessfully) to chase away the demons of his supervillain past.

In "So Many Bits", Bill Nielsen chats with game developers across the world in order to find out more about their craft. They talk about the technical and business side of the gaming business, but have a bit of fun along the way. Each episode also features Bill and a friend reviewing different scenes about video games from TV and film during their "Screenwatching", along with periodic check-ins on games we're playing.

You learn more in defeat than in victory, which makes Bill Nielsen an expert on Magic: the Gathering and traveling! In a Year in 20 Life, Bill talks about his time spent playing card games professionally and what he discovered about himself along the way.

Welcome to Beyond the Board, a podcast where Mike Rieman and Michael Sater explore the themes and real life inspirations behind their favorite games.

LET’S GET IT ON focuses on a small-town community radio station’s most popular show: a slow jam dedication/romantic advice call-in program called “Silky Beats & Satin Sheets.” When the super-smooth host Victavius St. Velour mysteriously disappears, it’s up to mild-mannered Gideon Spottswood to take over. And let’s just say, Gideon doesn’t know much about love. Or relationships, or music, or much of anything not having to do with home-brewing. But he’s not gonna let that stop him—no matter how badly his life starts to unravel.

With a stellar cast from the world of TV, movies, stand-up comedy, improv, and syndicated radio…combined with a sensual soundtrack of the best R&B ballads of yesterday and today…LET’S GET IT ON is guaranteed to get you in the mood…for laughter!

This 9-part mini-series was written by GARY LUCY, creator of THE KETCHUP.

Each week Chicago comedians Tim Dunn, Clayton Margeson, and Kellen Terrett team up with a special guest to discuss their thoughts and feelings on the world of video games, trying to add some insight in to why they love and hate the games they play, and have a little fun along the way.

The Ketchup is the last music podcast on Earth. After some disaster wipes out most of the human race -- or so it seems -- an injured man named Del finds himself alone in a California bomb shelter with no memory of how he got there… but with a computer full of music. Rather than sit in silence, Del resurrects a teenage passion, the mock radio show, by broadcasting weekly rock missives into the void. The music helps Del remember. But is anybody listening?

The Nerdologues are proud to re-present this 50-episode serial podcast created by and starring the Emmy award-winning Gary Lucy, friend of the group and all-around great guy. We’ll be putting up a new episode of the Ketchup weekly and adding in some bonus material as we go. Now strap on those headphones. It’s the end of the world as we know it, and we feel fine.
